Yoga

I really hope you didn’t see the title of this email and hit DELETE!  Let me start off by saying I am not a yogi.  But I have developed a strong respect for yoga recently.  And although yoga is definitely not a trend (it’s been around for over 5,000 years!!!), there ARE new trends in many classes to incorporate yoga type moves to increase strength, flexibility and balance.  As we get older we find that these things tend to diminish.  But they don’t have to!  Strength, flexibility and balance can be worked on at any age.  Did you hear that?!!  That means you’re never too old to start!!!  Working on your balance now may keep you from losing your balance and falling later in life.  So work on it today to prevent a fracture later on! 
There are literally too many benefits from yoga to list.  I’ve already mentioned that it increases strength, flexibility and balance.  But it also increases muscle tone, prevents back pain, helps with alignment, helps breathing, increases mental calmness, reduces stress and increases body awareness.  It also lowers blood pressure and increases heart function!  And the list goes on!
There are tons of different types of yoga.  I guarantee there is something out there for you.  There is gentle yoga, yoga flow, power yoga, hot yoga and many more!  There are also many fusion classes that use the benefits of yoga.  Even P90X has a yoga section!!!   
Get on out there!  Stretch, strengthen and relax!
